Lalit Mohan

Forester Lalit is the son of a Ranger. He is the new face of technology savvy foresters and has effectively used technology in monitoring the tiger in their natural habitat and mapping his movement patterns.

Young, honest and brilliant Lalit has numerous feathers on his hat. A topper in Forest Act at the Forester Training Institute, Haldwani in 2004. A 2007 Topper of Champion Trophy of Corbett in Wildlife training at Kalagargh, 2007 Best Forester awarded by Assistant Forest Employee Union. Lalit has assisted researchers from the Wildlife Institute of India for estimating tigers and ungulate population in Corbett national Park, using recent methods of wildlife population estimation by vegetation quantification, ungulate survey and camera trapping to estimate tiger population. Has participated in numerous wildlife rescue operation and is member of the Eco development Committee of Dhikuli a NGO which is working for wildlife conservation Under Corbett Tiger Reserve.

He has participated in the Ecotourism guide programme, Organized by Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun during March 2006,  Eco-development training programme organized by Corbett Tiger reserve, Ramnagar during April 2008. Seven days training programme on “Emergency Management” by Nehru Institute of Mountaining, Uttkashi, Outdoors.

An extensive trekker and wildlife photographer he has visited numerous protected areas such as Bandipur Tiger Reserve, Nagarhole Tiger Reserve, Periyar Tiger Reserve, Rajaji National Park, Nanda devi Biosphere Reserve, Valley of Flower Nature. He is presently in charge of the Dhangari gate of the famed Dhikala Zone of Corbett National Park.

Lalit is also the coordinator for Sunderkhal regarding the Lantana furniture project. He is indeed very helpful for putting together meetings with villagers, for his knowledge of the area but also to identify the best places where Lantana should be removed.
